The 100-minute format isn’t an accident. Shorter sessions left people wanting more, and full two-hour blocks dragged for most. A hundred minutes hits the sweet spot where you can drop fully into relaxation without getting cooked senseless. And if you’re “done” early, great. Bail whenever. It’s your body, your pace. We’d rather have you leave with time on the clock than walk out feeling half-baked or shorted. You'll be amazed at how fast time flies when you truly slow down and just breathe.
This is a community sauna, meaning you’ll share the benches with up to six other people. In West Michigan that sounds wild, but everywhere else it’s normal. And honestly, it works. Strangers stop feeling like strangers when everyone’s voluntarily sweating together. We’ve seen friendships spark, couples meet, introverts relax, and people show up solo just to be part of something that isn’t staring at a screen.
Sharing the heat is also what keeps the experience affordable and accessible for everyone, instead of some bougie private retreat for the chosen few.
If you want a private session, you still can. Book any time slot with six open seats and reserve all six using placeholder names if your group is smaller. Price is simple: 6 seats at $40 each. That blocks the sauna for your crew. Or reach out to arrange a future date.
Join us. Bring a friend or come solo. It’s weird in the best way, and somehow always exactly what you needed.
The session is simple. You get 100 minutes inside our two NorthUp wood-fired saunas, bouncing between heat and optional cold-water plunges. It’s enough time for three or more relaxed hot-cold cycles, a real reset for body and brain, and space to chill out, hydrate and move at your own rhythm.
- Arrive 5–10 minutes early so you’re ready to start on time.
- Leave jewelry, watches, glasses and whatever treasure chest you’re hauling around in your car or at home. Heat is not gentle on valuables.
- Use the transition area to change. We set up private tents when the wind cooperates, plus storage totes for your gear.
- Toss your belongings in a tote and keep your water bottle on the table next to the sauna door.
- Most people begin in the sauna. A few maniacs jump straight into the lake. Choose your own adventure.
- Typical sauna rounds run 15–20 minutes, sometimes 25–30 once you’re acclimated. If it stops feeling good, step out. Pro move: take a quick rehydration break and hop right back in. It stretches the round without committing to a full cool down.
- Cool off in the lake, breathe, rehydrate and repeat until your session wraps.
- A bucket and ladle sit by the door. One scoop on the rocks every 5–10 minutes keeps the steam (löyly) rolling.
- Each sauna holds six to seven people. Change up seats as you please. The top bench fits three and runs the hottest. Lower benches fit two to three each, and once you see the layout you’ll understand why we don’t cram nine people in there.
- HUGE BOTTLE OF WATER &/or electrolyte drink (like A GALLON - you will be sweating intensely!)
- WATER, PLEASE BRING DRINKING WATER (it's winter, water freezes - we have limited)
- Beach towel
- Change of warm dry clothes for after (Dryrobes, bath robes & ponchos are a pro move)
- Optional: Sandals/Crocs for walking from car & to the water (no shoes in sauna please)
- WINTER: Neoprene socks/surf boots for cold plunging (HIGHLY recommended for comfort) [even a thick pair of socks can be helpful! Skin on snow & ice is intense!]
- DON'T FORGET TO BRING PLENTY OF WATER (this is a real sauna - you will sweat ALOT)
